Equipt Expedition Outfitters National Luna 50L Weekender.mov






This is a short description of the National Luna 50L Split Fridge/Freeze by Paul May, the owner of Equipt Expedition Outfitters.









Green Ridge State forest is the second largest of Maryland's State Forests consisting of a 44000-acre oak-hickory forest. I took me more than 2 hours to drive into my campsite from the entrance to the forest from the interstate. Mud roads, slowing going. I signed up for camp site no, 65, because on the map it looked remote AND was directly adjacent to the C&O canal trail (I brought my bike). Well it was adjacent to the Potomac and the trail, about 200 feet horizontally...but on a cliff 200 feet up....drag. Also, I did not know this beforehand (a DNR warden told me on Saturday night), this site is generally only accessible to 4 wheel drive vehicles because of the steep and washed out access "driveway"...he was impressed that I made it up in a Chrysler PT Cruiser....I thought I had some other video of my newly crafted fire pit, but the camera was off, evidently...[[DOH!]] (dug out a deep hole in the existing fire ring, which was about five feet inner diameterr, laid down a base of fist sized rock in a wall about 1.5 feet wide and a foot high, scavenged large flat slat slabs for the rim, filled the gaps with bags and bags (I had a heavy duty burlap wood-hauling bg) and of cliff tailings (kinda like crushed stone used in construction, all about the size of a pinky fingernail, and just as thin), scavenged large flat slabs to lay on top, and tamped the whole thing for an hour with a rubber hammer. When it rains, it will be like concrete. Yes, I plan to go back. Started that at ...
